INTRODUCTION
It is with great pleasure that I present the University of Seville’s latest Statistical Yearbook. This edition contains all of the principal data for the 2020/2021 academic year and, with regard to the University’s accounts, the most important data of the 2021 Fiscal Year. You will also find several histori- cal series of data that enrich the overall content substantially and which enable an analysis to be made of how our Univer- sity is evolving and transforming with regard to its main areas of activity.
This present edition has maintained the principal aims, structures and charac- teristics of previous editions and is therefore published in both print and electronic editions. The print edition serves as our letter of introduction at the events and visits that our University organises in order to enhance our profile and project our current situation, thus enabling other organisations and higher educational establishments to get to know us in greater depth.
The information contained in this work is wide-ranging and covers highly diverse areas of activity. This amply demonstrates the dimension, the complexity and the enormous scope of the role played by a University in our Society. Indeed, ours is a Society where education, research and knowledge transfer are regarded as the driving force of a knowledge-based economy whose duty is to achieve higher levels of social wellbeing, wealth and progress.
